Born on April 26th, 121 (#timeline/ce1). He became the Emperor of the Roman Empire and rules for nearly two decades, he faced many challenges including the wars with Parthian Empire, rise of Christianity and the plague that left millions dead.

His successful rule was built upon wisdom and virtue. He left behind a journal which has become know as Meditations, he often reprimanded himself on how to become more virtuous, just and immune to temptation.

Marcus Aurelius practiced Stoicism and wrote extensively about his practice in his journals.
